Made in China 2025 and Industry 4.0:

Made in China 2025 is the Chinese government's ambitious plan to upgrade it's manufacturing sector from labour-intensive, low value-added operations to one that emphasises more technologically advanced production. It is meant to rival Germany's "Industrie 4.0" strategy and is part of the larger phenomenon of the fourth industrial revolution or Industry 4.0 for short.

At it's core, industry 4.0 prioritizes the integration of automation and data exchange and in manufacturing processes in order to create a "smart factory." This can be achieved by the means of numeorus technologies such as cyber-physical systems, the Internet of things, cloud computing and cognitive computing. Through the application of these technologies, numerous use cases such as asset tracking and monitoring, remote access and control and predictive maintenance are realized.

Industrial IoT ecosystem in China:

Realizing that it was fast becoming boxed in from both sides by lower cost production countries as well as higher value competitior countries, China has been taking concerted efforts to see it's Made in China 2025 plan through to fruition. In late July, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang announced at a State Council exective meeting about the government's plans of setting up national demonstration areas in various city clusters to foster innovation. This is just one of many such initiatives taken by the Chinese governement to expedite the developement of China's manufacturing sector.

Many Chinese firms have also been quick to adopt Industrial IoT technologies into their business models and just on the IoT ONE site alone we have catalogued up to more than 250 of such Chinese IIoT vendors. There is also an extensive collection of case studies from Chinese IIoT vendors from that pertain to smart city, healthcare, energy management and even waste treatment.

Selling to made in China 2025:

Though the Chinese economy has been facing some strong headwinds recently, it still fair to say that there has never been a better time to invest in China, provided you have the know-how to navigate the undoubtedly tricky Chinese market. IoT ONE recently published a report entitled "Selling to Made in China 2025."  Included in the report are topics such as the current climate and trends of the Industrial IoT in China as well as an in-depth analysis of the Made in China 2025 strategy. It is our hope that it will be a useful tool in helping you and your firm realize the many opportunities and challenges presented by China's initiative to become a global manufacturing powerhouse.
