About The Customer
The customer in this case study is a government organization in Japan. The organization was in need of a website that could facilitate sports camps and support visiting sports teams and tourists, especially in anticipation of the 2020 Summer Olympic Games. The website needed to be multilingual and agile, capable of accommodating a fluctuating number of visitors from locations worldwide. The organization required a solution that was not only effective in meeting these needs but also cost-effective.
The Challenge
Alleyoop Inc. was presented with a significant challenge by a government organization in Japan. The organization required the creation of a website designed to facilitate sports camps and, in anticipation of the 2020 Summer Olympic Games, to support visiting sports teams and tourists. The website needed to be multilingual and agile, capable of accommodating a fluctuating number of visitors from locations worldwide. The challenge was not only to create a website that met these requirements but also to find a hosting solution that was cost-effective and capable of handling the expected traffic without compromising on performance.
The Solution
Alleyoop had previously used the Amazon Web Services cloud platform for website hosting but found it cost-prohibitive. In response to the challenge, an IBM Cloud technical sales team proposed a SoftLayer virtual server environment to cost-effectively host the customer site and run Drupal content management system (CMS) software. The IBM team also guided Alleyoop in creating and maintaining the customer website with the Drupal application. This solution provided a flexible storage including Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI), storage area network (SAN) and EVault options. It also easily scaled to affordably accommodate fluctuating numbers of website visitors.
