With its corporate headquarters in Marietta, GA, the company operates 28 satellite offices and employs about 700 people. ATS provides expert services in a variety of industries, including automotive, aerospace, nuclear, and pulp and paper. Despite its significant growth of up to 20% year-over-year and a large workforce spread across multiple locations, the company was struggling with information storage and exchange due to the lack of a central repository.
The Challenge
Applied Technical Services (ATS), a leading testing, inspection, and consulting engineering firm in North America, was facing a significant challenge in managing its information. With a 20% year-over-year growth, 700 employees, and thousands of active projects, the company's existing information management approach was no longer sufficient. The information storage was inconsistent and fractured among departments, leading to inefficiencies in operations. The lack of a clear and consistent process and data workflows further compounded the problem. ATS wanted to overhaul its legacy internal portal, create a department-specific home page with centralized document storage, and establish a customer portal. However, to achieve these objectives, they needed a more intuitive and automated solution.
The Solution
ATS partnered with Abel Solutions to create a centralized repository for information storage and exchange. They adopted SharePoint 2013 with Nintex Advanced Workflow and Modern Forms to create a more efficient and unified system. This system was used for managing project, job, employee, and even prospect and client information. The solution provided a robust document creation, editing, and management system where workflows dramatically increased the consistency of data storage and access to information. Nintex automated digital workflows played a pivotal role in this transformation. These workflows, triggered by predefined events, helped in creating new workflows, thereby tying everything together for better project and equipment management.
