About The Customer
CENIBRA (Celulose Nipo-Brasileira S.A.) is a major producer of bleached eucalyptus pulp, incorporated in 1973 and located in Belo Oriente, Brazil. The company has an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons and exports 98% of its pulp to markets in Asia, Europe, and North America. In addition to its production, the company owns and manages 254,000 hectares of land as eucalyptus farms and ecological reserves in the state of Minas Gerais. CENIBRA is a key player in the paper industry, with eucalyptus pulp accounting for nearly 33% of the world’s market pulp.
The Challenge
CENIBRA, a major producer of bleached eucalyptus pulp based in Brazil, was facing several challenges. The company had a desire to transition from its legacy ERP system to SAP S/4HANA, but was struggling with establishing SAP standards to save time and money. The company also lacked process clarity for its complex supply chain management and was struggling to establish a single source of truth. There was a misalignment between the business and IT, and a demand for control and security for the company’s forestry process cycle. The increasing market demand and the need for modernization of IT systems made it clear that the company wasn’t keeping pace. Upgrading to SAP S/4HANA was a necessary step towards a modern IT infrastructure, but there was a risk of the cycle breaking down during the upgrade.
The Solution
CENIBRA decided to implement ARIS Enterprise and the extension for SAP® Solutions to address its challenges. After navigating a crowded marketplace, the company found a Business Process Analysis (BPA) tool that was vendor-agnostic and open enough to integrate with SAP solutions. This tool not only offered a process-driven migration solution, but also had all the capabilities to accelerate a successful migration to SAP S/4HANA. The new tool guided CENIBRA safely through the SAP migration and efficiently aligned its processes with the new SAP S/4HANA architecture. Over the course of three years, the company mapped and managed the entire forest process cycle, designed over 455 process flows in IT and corporate governance, and involved 140 users in process design and improvement. The company also established a team of analysts dedicated to responding to demands for process improvement and infrastructure management.
