About The Customer
Christian Aid is an international development charity that has been devoted to raising money to help the poorest communities around the world for more than sixty years. It aims to help communities become self-sustaining and also provides immediate relief in desperate situations. Christian Aid draws support from all sections of the population and Christian Aid Week is the largest single fundraising event in the UK, raising £14.5 million in 2008. In 2005, Christian Aid’s Board set out a strategic framework to guide its work up to 2010. It agreed to make the best possible use of its resources, learn from experience, and be open about, and accountable for, its actions.
The Challenge
Christian Aid, an international development charity, has a large supporter database that records details of voluntary donations given by supporters in response to marketing and fundraising initiatives. The ability to easily access and report on this data is vital to ensure that the best use is made of investment in fundraising, and to assure supporters that effective use is being made of their generous gifts. However, until recently, Christian Aid had struggled to deliver comprehensive analysis of results and trends from its large and complex database.
The Solution
Christian Aid called systems integration consultancy and outsourcing company CIBER to help. CIBER arranged a QlikView demonstration for Christian Aid, which convinced them that QlikView was capable of delivering the speedy data access, analysis and reporting required. Three months after the initial demonstration, Christian Aid has already implemented a series of highly customised QlikView dashboards that go a long way to meeting its unique data analysis and reporting needs. The QlikView consultant came one week at a time to create specific dashboards, responding to spontaneous requests and turning them into on-screen functionality.
