About The Customer
Eden Park is a sportswear brand created in 1987 by five rugby players from Racing Club de France. The brand is recognizable by its pink bow tie and is driven by people with a team spirit, a taste for challenge, and the love of victory. The brand has successfully positioned itself in the French market. Today, it has 200 employees, 400 outlets, and its turnover in 2006 was €47 million. The future challenges and opportunities for Eden Park are to expand its brand throughout Europe and develop its online sales presence.
The Challenge
Eden Park, a sportswear brand, was facing limitations with its traditional BI tool acquired in 2002. The tool was no longer meeting the needs of the purchasing, sales, production, and management controlling departments. They were only using 20% of the product for their analyses and reporting, and spending 80% of their time reprocessing the data in Excel. The company was looking for a solution that was fast to implement, easy to manage, and truly effective. The challenge was to meet the evolving needs of management controlling.
The Solution
Eden Park decided to implement QlikView, a BI tool that impressed them with its speed and simplicity of data integration, and the ease with which reporting could be modified. The first application was developed in three days and the users were trained in 15 minutes, which enabled the management controlling application to be operational and effective very quickly. The response times are presently near-instantaneous, which was not the case with its previous BI solution. The numerous hours spent reprocessing data in Excel are no longer necessary, and the time saved enables Eden Park to undertake more in-depth analyses.
Operational Impact
  • The first application was developed in 3 days and the users were trained in 15 minutes, which enabled the management controlling application to be operational and effective very quickly.
  • The response times are presently near-instantaneous, which was not the case with its previous BI solution.
  • The numerous hours spent reprocessing data in Excel are no longer necessary, and the time saved enables Eden Park to undertake more in-depth analyses.
  • Users in the management controlling department quickly made the tool their own: its intuitive interface, the ease with which criteria can be selected and results displayed, along with its simplicity and flexibility.
  • The enthusiastic response from users led to requests from other departments to develop new applications, in particular for the sales department.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Near immediate ROI with low acquisition and implementation costs coupled with powerful and in-depth analyses
  • Improved merchandise sales through optimized inventory management across retail store chain
  • Simplified administration with easy to develop and maintain applications now addressing 100 % of needs instead of 20 %
  • Improved user satisfaction from improved productivity gains and freedom in analyses
