The company wanted to make a concrete commitment to the climate by assessing its carbon emissions. However, before they could reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, they needed to measure them and identify their main emission factors. This would allow them to understand their impact and structure their environmental approach to reduce emissions in the long term. The challenge was to find a simple, intuitive, and recognized solution to measure their carbon footprint.
Fashion Data chose Greenly's measurement solution to carry out their carbon footprint report. Greenly's solution is simple, intuitive, and recognized in the market, having earned the French Tech Green 2020 label. Their calculation methods are based on those of the Ademe, which guarantees their legitimacy. The solution provided a global overview of Fashion Data's emissions, including direct emissions related to energy (scope 1 & 2) and emissions from service providers and services used by the company (scope 3). The report revealed that Fashion Data's main emission item was digital technology, which accounted for 69% of their total emissions. Armed with this information, Fashion Data is developing an action plan to reduce emissions, with a focus on reducing digital usage, optimizing cloud consumption, and choosing SaaS suppliers committed to the same approach.
