The Challenge
Character Cabinets, a part of the Character Group, is a manufacturer and distributor of cabinetry and stone benchtops for about 2,000 homes a year in Western Australia. The company mass-produces its products, but each kitchen and house they cater to is unique, requiring customized planning to meet demand on time and within budget. The building industry, where Character Cabinets operates, is driven by strict timelines. With the industry downturn and struggles of mid-range builders, it was crucial for Character Cabinets to meet demand on time without compromising on quality. However, the company was facing challenges in keeping to the schedule due to gaps in their operations. The company needed better processes to manage the risk and improve their service delivery.
The Solution
To address the operational gaps and improve process efficiency, Character Cabinets turned to Nintex Promapp, a process management tool known for its user-friendly interface and cost-effectiveness. Daniel Giles, the lean operations facilitator for Character Group, spearheaded a business case to test the viability of implementing Nintex Promapp. The tool was expected to pay for itself in process efficiencies in as little as six months. The implementation of Nintex Promapp involved mapping the pre-production planning and production processes, ensuring each job could be executed without mistakes and on time. The process mapping involved all levels of the company, from management to front-line staff, fostering a culture of excellence and engagement across the organization.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
