Inovie Labosud is a member of the Inovie Group, established in 2009 through the association of Doctors and Pharmaceutical Biologists, along with the merger of several laboratories located in the south of France. The group has developed around the shared goal of maintaining local leadership to remain independent and in control of the product. This allows them to continue to innovate with the aim of meeting the expectations of patients and health professionals in the best way possible. Their vocation is to fully participate in the optimal care of patients by offering real expertise in Medical Biology. Their fundamental values include Independence, Innovation, Excellence, Respect, and Ethics.
Inovie Labosud, a group of Medical Biology Laboratories, was seeking a simple method to conduct their first Greenhouse Gas (GHG) assessment. The company wanted to measure its carbon footprint to structure its environmental policy and devise a long-term action plan to reduce emissions. The challenge was to account for not only direct and energy-related emissions (Scope 1 & 2) but also indirect emissions caused by service providers and services used by the company (Scope 3). The company's carbon footprint in 2021 was 19275t CO2e, with transportation accounting for 66% of emissions, fixed assets 15.1%, and purchase of services 9.1%. Inovie Labosud aimed to reduce its CO2 emissions by 5% by 2024, in line with the Paris Agreement's objectives to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees.
Inovie Labosud partnered with Greenly, a well-recognized industry player with the French Tech Green 2020 label, to calculate its carbon footprint. Greenly's easy-to-use measurement solution saved the company significant time. To reduce emissions, Inovie Labosud developed an action plan involving all stakeholders. The plan included considering the reusability, repairability, and recyclability of fixed assets, implementing a responsible purchasing policy, and reducing CO2 impact related to the transportation of goods. The company signed the voluntary charter Objectif CO2 to commit to this goal. Additionally, Inovie Labosud planned to offset non-reducible CO2 emissions through contribution projects, working on local and concrete projects in conjunction with the National Center for Forest Property (CNPF).
