About The Customer
Liberty Energy is a leading provider of oilfield services, with a mission to transform the oil and gas industry in both practice and reputation. The company operates in some of the most remote and hazardous environments in the country, with 6,200 tracked assets, 3,200 heavy-duty trucks, and 3,500 drivers. They are committed to using technology and data to improve the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of their operations. Despite the challenges of operating in such demanding conditions, Liberty Energy is dedicated to innovation and has been recognized as the 2022 Samsara Connected Operations Awards Winner for Operations Innovator.
The Challenge
Liberty Energy, a leader in oilfield services, was faced with the challenge of streamlining their dispersed operations on a single platform and connecting their data and technology. The company's mission is to transform the oil and gas industry in practice and reputation, using technology and data to improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability. However, their existing systems were decentralized and produced inaccurate data, which limited visibility and reporting. Operating in some of the most remote and hazardous environments in the country, Liberty Energy needed a unified solution that would provide accurate, real-time data, ensure the safety of their distributed teams, and improve their operational efficiency.
The Solution
Liberty Energy adopted the Samsara Connected Operations Cloud as a solution to their challenges. This platform provided complete visibility into their operations, improving data accuracy, decreasing vehicle accidents, digitizing manual processes, and aiding in achieving their sustainability goals. The company installed Samsara Asset Gateways for real-time GPS tracking and integrated it with their tax service provider for accurate location reporting. This allowed them to accurately assess, charge, and remit the appropriate level of taxes to taxing authorities. Additionally, they installed Samsara AI Dash Cams for in-cab and on-the-road visibility, which improved driver safety. They also used a turnkey Fiix integration to sync diagnostic and DVIR data with their CMMS, saving administrative time and costs. Lastly, they installed Samsara Vehicle Gateways to track their fleet’s fuel usage and identify opportunities to decrease fuel consumption.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
