About The Customer
Flückiger Électricité is a specialist in electrical installations and engineering from the Neuchatel region of Switzerland. It designs and installs electrical systems from low- to medium-voltage. Its clients include a number of pharmaceutical and watch manufacturing companies, as well as public services providers, municipalities, and universities. The company was looking to expand its offer with maintenance services and needed a tool to manage it.
The Challenge
Flückiger Électricité, a specialist in electrical installations and engineering based in Switzerland, was looking to expand its services to include maintenance. The company needed a tool to manage this new service offering. They wanted to offer additional services and win new clients without investing in expensive solutions and time-consuming training. One of their customers, watch manufacturer G&F Châtelain, was looking for a maintenance partner. They wanted to choose a company that had set up the electrical installation and could provide visibility into the maintenance schedule.
The Solution
Flückiger Électricité chose Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure Facility Expert, a cloud-based software that could be customized to perfectly fit Flückiger’s industrial customers’ needs. With the digital logbook feature, their field technician can easily access key information about customer installations, including maintenance history, reports, and documentation just by scanning a QR code. The software also enables monitoring of connected assets and provides insights into equipment performance and energy consumption. Flückiger also joined the EcoXpert™ Partner Program and gained the Connected Power badge, which means that they passed a comprehensive training program to reach the highest levels of competency in the industry.

Leveraging the IoT to Gain a Competitive Edge in International Competition
Many large manufacturers in and outside Japan are competing for larger market share in the same space, expecting a growing demand for projectors in the areas of entertainment, which requires glamor and strong visual performance as well as digital signage that can attract people’s attention. “It is becoming more and more difficult to differentiate ourselves with stand-alone hardware products,” says Kazuyuki Kitagawa, Director of Service & Support at Panasonic AVC Networks. “In order for Panasonic to grow market share and overall business, it is essential for us to develop solutions that deliver significant added value.” Panasonic believes projection failure and quality deterioration should never happen. This is what and has driven them to make their projectors IoT-enabled. More specifically, Panasonic has developed a system that collects data from projectors, visualizes detailed operational statuses, and predicts issues and address them before failure occurs. Their projectors are embedded with a variety of sensors that measure power supply, voltage, video input/ output signals, intake/exhaust air temperatures, cooling fan operations, and light bulb operating time. These sensors have been used to make the projector more intelligent, automatically suspending operation when the temperature rises excessively, and automatically switching light bulbs. Although this was a great first step, Panasonic projectors were still not equipped with any capability to send the data over a network.
