Masteos is a tech company that operates in the real estate and construction sectors. They offer a turnkey service to individuals wishing to invest in old buildings while renovating the French housing stock. The entire investment process happens on the Masteos application, from access to the property catalog, virtual visits, purchase offers to electronic signatures of documents. Masteos takes care of the whole operation, from the acquisition of the property to the rental process, while providing its tenants with high standards of comfort and energy efficiency. The company believes that the financial gain of their clients only makes sense if its societal and environmental impact is positive, promoting the well-being of the tenants and reducing the carbon footprint of the housing.
Masteos, a dematerialized rental investment company, operates in the intersection of technology, real estate, and construction. The company supports individuals who wish to invest in old buildings while renovating the French housing stock. Despite the fact that renovating buildings is less polluting than constructing new ones, Masteos recognized the need to pay particular attention to their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This concern extends to the renovation process and the years following the rental of a dwelling. To reduce their GHG emissions, Masteos realized the importance of measuring them beforehand. The challenge was to find a reliable method to calculate their carbon footprint and structure their environmental policy accordingly.
Masteos partnered with Greenly to conduct a comprehensive audit and calculate their carbon footprint. Greenly's tool provided a clear view of Masteos' various carbon emission items and their ADEME certification certified the legitimacy of the results. The carbon footprint took into account direct and energy-related emissions (Scope 1 & 2), as well as indirect emissions caused by service providers and services used by the company (Scope 3). The carbon assessment allowed Masteos to have an overview of their GHG emissions and to draw up actions to reduce them. Masteos implemented a series of concrete actions including reimbursing public transport passes for employees, leasing refurbished electronic devices, training employees on environmental issues, implementing a zero airplane policy, transitioning to green energy suppliers, and more.
