About The Customer
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation is a multinational automaker headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, Japan. In its fiscal year that ended March 2014, Mitsubishi Motors had an operating profit of 123.4 billion yen ($1.2 billion), a new all-time record for the Japanese automaker. The company was seeking to improve its supplier relationships on a global scale and to offer an easy-to-use solution to interact with them.
The Challenge
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, a multinational automaker based in Tokyo, Japan, was seeking to improve its supplier relationships on a global scale. The company wanted to offer an easy-to-use solution to interact with its suppliers. In August 2004, Mitsubishi selected Covisint’s platform to help improve the sharing of information and collaborative business processes with its global suppliers. The goal was to provide the supply base with every opportunity to advance performance and understanding of supplier-related requirements of Mitsubishi and its affiliates worldwide.
The Solution
Mitsubishi selected Covisint’s platform to help improve the sharing of information and collaborative business processes with its global suppliers. Covisint enabled Mitsubishi to provide its suppliers with immediate access to information and applications to obtain more collaborative working relationships. Using a common framework and interface, Covisint’s platform globally integrated cross-functional online applications, which provided suppliers with one, single point-of-access and contact. The multi-phase agreement began with the deployment of the solution in Japan to approximately 1,200 Mitsubishi suppliers. Covisint worked with Mitsubishi to recruit the suppliers using their deployment team to access the Mitsubishi supplier portal in any one of seven languages, including Japanese.

Integral Plant Maintenance
Mercedes-Benz and his partner GAZ chose Siemens to be its maintenance partner at a new engine plant in Yaroslavl, Russia. The new plant offers a capacity to manufacture diesel engines for the Russian market, for locally produced Sprinter Classic. In addition to engines for the local market, the Yaroslavl plant will also produce spare parts. Mercedes-Benz Russia and his partner needed a service partner in order to ensure the operation of these lines in a maintenance partnership arrangement. The challenges included coordinating the entire maintenance management operation, in particular inspections, corrective and predictive maintenance activities, and the optimizing spare parts management. Siemens developed a customized maintenance solution that includes all electronic and mechanical maintenance activities (Integral Plant Maintenance).
