About The Customer
Nylene Canada, Inc. is a nylon manufacturer based in Ontario, Canada. The company operates from a single location and has a workforce of 350 employees. Nylene Canada manufactures nylon resin for carpet yarn and the yarn itself. The company was recently spun off from Honeywell Nylon Canada, which had previously provided accounting services to its subsidiary. As a result of the corporate restructuring, Nylene Canada had to find a system to support its own financial management quickly. The company has an annual turnover of $100 million.
The Challenge
Nylene Canada, a nylon manufacturer, was spun off from Honeywell Nylon Canada and had to find a system to support its own financial management quickly. The company needed an economical ERP system that could be installed in just three months to manage all aspects of business and manufacturing operations. The system had to be capable of handling cash management, a function previously handled by the treasury department at Honeywell. The transition had to be seamless to customers and not disrupt the ongoing workflow of users.
The Solution
Nylene Canada chose Sage 500 ERP as its new business system. The system was installed exactly as promised and the transition was seamless to customers and did not disrupt the ongoing workflow of users. Sage 500 ERP now manages the entire enterprise at Nylene Canada, from the general ledger and accounts receivable to inventory and warehouse operations. The software begins its work at Nylene Canada the moment an order comes in, when data is entered into the Sales Order module. The system then manages inventory picking and shipping, for real-time customer information. On the production side, Nylene uses the Advanced Manufacturing module in Sage 500 ERP to track raw materials when they arrive at the plant. Nylene uses a recipe-driven manufacturing process and runs the Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) module to determine when materials need replenishing.
Operational Impact
  • The system was successfully launched within an extremely aggressive timeframe.
  • The system has saved the equivalent of three to five full-time employees by centralizing functions.
  • The transition was seamless to customers and did not disrupt the ongoing workflow of users.
  • The system manages the entire enterprise at Nylene Canada, from the general ledger and accounts receivable to inventory and warehouse operations.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Saved the equivalent of three to five full-time employees by centralizing functions.
