About The Customer
Papa & Barkley is a cannabis manufacturer and distributor with four different facilities primarily located in Eureka, California. They manufacture and distribute cannabis products, adhering to the typical safety requirements of a production facility and warehouse, as well as specialized regulations for the cannabis industry. To ensure compliance and promote safety across their locations, they employ Facility Intelligence Coordinators to monitor their operations 24/7. As a rapidly growing company, they were in search of an onsite camera system that could streamline their processes and scale with them.
The Challenge
Papa & Barkley, a cannabis manufacturer and distributor, faced significant challenges in managing their facilities. With four different facilities primarily located in Eureka, California, they had to adhere to strict safety requirements and specialized regulations for the cannabis industry. This necessitated real-time visibility and facility security. To ensure compliance and safety, they employed Facility Intelligence Coordinators (FICs) to monitor their operations 24/7 using a legacy camera system. However, with 167 cameras monitoring a collective 79,000 square feet, manually reviewing footage was time-consuming and led to burnout among the FICs. Additionally, the City of Eureka and the state of California conducted surprise inspections, for which retrieving video footage was essential. Before Samsara, finding the right footage could take hours. As a rapidly growing company, Papa & Barkley needed an onsite camera system that could streamline their processes and scale with them.
The Solution
Papa & Barkley turned to Samsara Site Visibility to transform their onsite operations. As an existing Samsara customer, they were confident in expanding their partnership and deploying Site Visibility in their facilities. This solution allowed them to consolidate their fleet and facility solutions in one dashboard, integrate with their existing cameras, and gain additional benefits from Samsara. Features like hybrid-cloud video storage extended their storage time for inspections, while intelligent search quickly located precise events needing review. Site Visibility’s easy-to-use interface and intelligent search also helped keep Papa & Barkley compliant. They were able to instantly pull requested footage during inspections, speeding up the process and facilitating a positive relationship with city officials. They also used Video Retrieval to support additional city investigations.

Intelligent Building Automation System and Energy Saving Solution
One of the most difficult problems facing the world is conserving energy in buildings. However, it is not easy to have a cost-effective solution to reduce energy usage in a building. One solution for saving energy is to implement an intelligent building automation system (BAS) which can be controlled according to its schedule. In Indonesia a large university with a five floor building and 22 classrooms wanted to save the amount of energy being used.

Commercial Building Automation Boosts Energy Efficiency
One of the challenges to building automation is the multitude of non-interoperable communications protocols that have evolved over the years. Buildings have several islands of automation. Bridging the islands of different automation without losing the considerable investment in each specialized control network is the main focus in this solution.
