About The Customer
QDOBA Mexican Eats is a fast-casual Mexican restaurant chain with over 740 locations across the U.S. and Canada. The company is dedicated to bringing flavor to people's lives through freshly prepared, handcrafted menu options. Customers can enjoy QDOBA's chef-crafted signature eats or create their own burritos, bowls, tacos, quesadillas, nachos, and salads to suit their personal tastes. For four consecutive years, QDOBA has been voted the 'Best Fast Casual Restaurant' in the USA Today 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
The Challenge
After separating from its parent company, Jack in the Box, QDOBA replaced its legacy ERP with NetSuite to manage its 700 stores and support its rapid growth. Concurrently, the company adopted Boomi as its iPaaS. However, the IT team found that they could not automate certain processes quickly enough with Boomi. More worryingly, the team lacked the necessary visibility when errors occurred, which were expensive and time-consuming to resolve. After two years, QDOBA decided to seek a more scalable solution.
The Solution
QDOBA chose Celigo to replace Boomi as its iPaaS due to its feature set, usability, error handling capabilities within the user interface, and total cost of ownership. The company's initial goal was to replace the existing integrations with Celigo. QDOBA collaborated with Nova Module, a Celigo partner, for the implementation. This involved a mix of flat files from multiple vendors, some proprietary databases, dozens of applications like Ultipro, Ecova, and Cintas, and complex files with financial and statistical journal entries with over 18,000 lines across multiple subsidiaries. QDOBA is now exploring new automation opportunities via API integrations across multiple back-end systems, including its restaurants' POS and payroll systems.
