About The Customer
KGM Kugelfabrik is a manufacturing company that specializes in the production and international sales of precision spheres made from a wide range of materials. The company was established in 1913 and operates in the industrial machinery sector, specifically in the industrial components sub-industry. KGM Kugelfabrik is headquartered in Fulda, Hesse, Germany, and has a workforce of 200 employees. The company generates a turnover of €20 million.
The Challenge
KGM Kugelfabrik, a manufacturer of precision spheres, was facing several challenges in its operations. The company was dealing with long start-up times and laborious analysis processes. The evaluation and graphic preparation of data could only be done by converting the information to Excel spreadsheets. The company required different evaluations, including static evaluations that enable comparisons between two time periods. Furthermore, the company was dealing with diverse data sources, including Microsoft Dynamics, Access, and Excel.
The Solution
To address its challenges, KGM Kugelfabrik implemented QlikView, a business intelligence tool. The solution was used in various areas of the company. In quality management, customer satisfaction analysis indicators were used as part of quality management according to DIN EN ISO 9001 standards. In sales, the tool was used for usage, business potential, and turnover according to client/region/sector. For general management, turnover figures were analyzed using QlikView. The implementation of the solution took just four weeks.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
