The company also supplies safety items including screw coupling, bolster suspension, side frame keys and draw gear assembly for Railway Coaches and wagons. RKFL has always adopted new technologies in order to create and maintain a leadership position in the manufacturing industry and to serve its various clients throughout the world.
The Challenge
Ramkrishna Forgings Limited (RKFL), a leading manufacturer and supplier of open and closed die forgings, was facing challenges in improving the performance and efficiency of large-scale data analysis and integrating data from multiple sources effectively. The company had implemented SAP in 2010 to enhance operational philosophy. However, after two years of using the SAP infrastructure, the IT team at RKFL felt that the tools reporting and analytics lacked flexibility and performance to deal with large data volumes from SAP and other non-SAP data sources. Managers used to pull together SAP-reports and analysis using Microsoft Excel, often resulting in inconsistent and incomplete reports. The organization wanted a solution that would be intuitive and simple to use, integrate with the existing SAP applications, deliver deep data analysis capabilities in real-time, and could be accessed anytime using popular mobile devices.
The Solution
RKFL deployed the QlikView business discovery platform as its single reporting and analysis tool to inform strategic decision making. The QlikView solution, through its unique in-memory associative technology, delivers rapid data visibility and exceptional decision-making agility for the entire business through a single solution. The solution enables all standard BI capabilities including predictive analysis, ‘what-if’ scenarios, dashboard KPIs, balanced scorecards – and more, at the speed of business. Thanks to the flexibility of the tool, RKFL can now easily adapt to daily demand changes and order flows. They are also in a position to ensure the right product mix is available to customers at the right time. The transformation has been exemplified by the shift to a user-friendly, ‘self-service’ data analysis environment.
