Brittani is a Black professional with entrepreneurial goals who identified a lack of online content catering to Black professionals. To address this, she created Mogul Millennial, a media-tech platform that provides actionable content for Black entrepreneurs and professionals. As the only full-time member of her company, Brittani was responsible for all communication with writers and audience members. She also managed the addition of new subscribers to the Mogul Millennial newsletter. Despite the challenges of managing these tasks manually, Brittani was committed to ensuring that her platform provided relevant and timely content to its growing community of over 18,000 Black business leaders.
In 2016, Brittani, a Black professional with entrepreneurial aspirations, identified a gap in the market for online content that catered to Black professionals. To address this, she created Mogul Millennial, a media-tech platform that provides actionable content for Black entrepreneurs and professionals. However, as the platform grew, Brittani faced challenges in managing communication with her writers and audience. As the only full-time member of her company, she found it difficult to keep up with the volume of emails that needed to be sent out daily. Every couple of weeks, she would send her writers a company update that included an Airtable form to submit their article ideas. Once a writer filled out the form, Brittani had to manually email acceptances or denials to each writer's pitch individually, which was repetitive and time-consuming. Additionally, she struggled to ensure that new subscribers to the Mogul Millennial newsletter were added to the correct email marketing lists, a task that was critical to ensure subscribers received the right content.
To streamline communication and content delivery, Brittani turned to automation. She created a multi-step Zap that automated the process of responding to article pitches. When a writer filled out the pitch form, it populated an Airtable base where Brittani could see all the pitch details and label the pitch as either 'approved' or 'rejected'. Instead of manually emailing each writer, the Zap would send a personalized email from Brittani's Gmail account based on the pitch status. To manage new newsletter subscribers, Brittani used a Zap that automatically added Mogul Millennial subscribers to the right marketing campaigns. When subscribers signed up for the newsletter through a Landingi page, they were automatically added to specific Drip campaigns based on their content preferences. This ensured that subscribers received the right content at the right time, without Brittani having to manually enter new subscribers into the campaigns.
