The company's core business involves generating, transmitting, and distributing electricity. Tata Power is India's largest integrated power company, with an installed electricity generation capacity of 10,577 MW. The company employs over 10,000 individuals. Tata Power established the Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI) to empower individuals with employable skills, primarily in the power and associated industries, and to address the skill gap in the Indian Power Industry.
The Challenge
Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI) was established to empower individuals with employable skills, primarily in the power and associated industries. The institute aimed to address the skill gap in the Indian Power Industry by offering module training and certification across a broad spectrum of employable skills. However, TPSDI faced a challenge in making its courses accessible to a wider audience, including disadvantaged sections of society and those below the poverty line. The institute needed a platform to provide real-time information about its profile, facilities, leadership team, training hubs, and most importantly, its online courses. The platform also needed to allow students to register for these courses and provide details for upcoming and previous webinars, including registration links and video access.
The Solution
To address this challenge, TPSDI partnered with Hyperlink InfoSystem to create a mobile application that would serve as an online platform for the institute. The app, available on both iOS and Android platforms, was designed to provide all the necessary information about TPSDI, including its profile, contact information, training hubs, and online courses. It also included a feature for students to register for these courses and webinars directly through the app. The app was equipped with a notification system to keep students updated about future courses, webinars, and events. Additionally, the app included a feature for users to view past webinar videos. To manage the app, an admin panel was created where admins could manage users, webinars, courses, training metrics, and notifications. The app was developed using native technology swift for iOS and Kotlin for Android, and JSON-based rest API development with PHP & Laravel Framework for the admin panel.
