WeShape also organizes two leading events - London DevOps and London Tech Leaders, with a combined community of over 10,000 members.
WeShape, a leading consultancy specializing in DevOps, Digital, Data, and Cloud solutions, was facing a significant challenge in terms of its environmental impact. As a company operating in the digital technology sector, it was becoming increasingly difficult to ignore the environmental commitments. According to the United Nations Environment Programme, digital technologies are responsible for 2 to 3 percent of global emissions. WeShape was keen to establish a positive narrative in the industry and encourage other companies to follow suit. The company was also aware of the anticipated market changes in the dependability of carbon-reliant operations, making these adjustments imperative. As the conversation around Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) continued to grow, WeShape wanted to invest in responsible change and measure its commitments.
To address this challenge, WeShape decided to carry out a comprehensive carbon assessment with Greenly. Greenly was chosen for its scientific and transparent approach to assessing carbon footprint, which is accredited by the ADEME (Agence pour la Transition Écologique). The strength of their measurement methodology covering scope 1,2,3 analysis & benchmarks, their smart platform UI, and their ability to integrate with existing tools were also key factors in this decision. The carbon assessment provided a starting point for WeShape to measure its commitments. The company's carbon footprint took into account direct and energy emissions (Scope 1 & 2) as well as indirect emissions caused by service providers and services used by the company (Scope 3). Following the assessment, WeShape established a three-pillar climate strategy: Measure and Reduce Emissions, Engage and Communicate with the Ecosystem, and Contribute to Certified GHG Reduction/Sequestration Projects. The company also set specific targets for a carbon reduction plan, aiming to reach Net Zero by 2035.
