挑战
After a few accidents served as a wake-up call that their current safety program wasn’t working, Markstein knew they needed to do something more to improve their fleet safety. Director of Operations Tom Roberts began looking for a dash cam solution that would help him save money, exonerate his drivers from accidents, and coach drivers on defensive driving tactics. Getting driver buy-in on dash cams from day one was a significant challenge. Roberts found a way to get his drivers excited about dash cams by selecting his top driver to pilot the system and provide initial feedback. This approach helped in getting the drivers to be advocates of the system.
解决方案
Markstein Sales Company implemented Samsara dash cams across their entire fleet to improve safety, save money, and boost driver engagement. Roberts piloted the system with his top driver to get initial feedback and buy-in from the rest of the team. The dash cams allowed Roberts to monitor and improve driver behavior from day one. The forward-facing cameras changed driver behavior by making them aware that their actions were being monitored. Positive behavior was encouraged by showing safe driving footage during monthly meetings. The dash cams also helped in avoiding false claims by providing video evidence that could be quickly retrieved and sent to insurance companies. This not only saved time but also ensured that the company could settle claims quickly and efficiently. Additionally, the dash cams were used to improve route selection by identifying and rectifying problematic routes that posed safety risks.

With increasing sophistication, they may also provide time- and location-based data pertaining to sales, inventory, and customer preferences. But at the end of the day, vending machine operators know greater profitability is driven by higher sales and lower operating costs.
