About The Customer
Eurovia USA is a company that specializes in roadway maintenance. With a fleet of over 2,000 vehicles, the company is constantly moving between sites to support their operations. Ensuring the safety of their drivers on the road is a top priority for Eurovia USA. However, they faced challenges in monitoring in-cab activities and ensuring seatbelt usage, which they suspected were leading to an increase in safety incidents. The company sought a proactive solution that could provide real-time feedback on risky behaviors and empower drivers to improve their habits on the road.
The Challenge
Eurovia USA, a company with a fleet of over 2,000 vehicles engaged in roadway maintenance, faced a significant challenge in ensuring the safety of their drivers. The company suspected that unsafe in-cab activities, particularly mobile usage, were leading to an increase in incidents. Additionally, they needed to ensure that seatbelts were being worn consistently to protect drivers from potential injuries. However, without visibility into the cab, Eurovia USA was unable to identify the causes of safety incidents or risky behaviors. They were in need of a proactive safety solution that could improve in-cab visibility, provide real-time feedback for risky behaviors, and empower drivers to improve their habits on the road before an incident occurred.
The Solution
Eurovia USA adopted Samsara's video-based safety solution to address their safety concerns. This solution included dual-facing AI Dash Cams that brought artificial intelligence into the cab to help drivers self-correct behaviors such as mobile usage and seatbelt usage, thereby preventing incidents before they happened. The solution used AI and computer vision to automatically detect when a driver was holding a mobile phone while driving or not wearing a seatbelt at the start of a trip. These features delivered optional in-cab alerts to help drivers self-correct their behavior in real-time. High-definition event footage was automatically uploaded to the Samsara dashboard for managers to review and coach drivers. This proactive approach to driver safety allowed Eurovia USA to identify and alert when risky behaviors occurred, empowering their drivers to improve their habits on the road.

Vodafone Hosted On AWS
Vodafone found that traffic for the applications peak during the four-month period when the international cricket season is at its height in Australia. During the 2011/2012 cricket season, 700,000 consumers downloaded the Cricket Live Australia application. Vodafone needed to be able to meet customer demand, but didn’t want to invest in additional resources that would be underutilized during cricket’s off-season.
